Northgate Managed Services Awarded For Excellence at ICT Awards

27 May 2009

Northgate Managed Services picked up the award for IT Project of the Year (Public Sector) for its development of the Driver and Vechiles Agency\'s (DVA) booking system at the ninth annual ICT Excellence awards held in Dublin this month.

Managed by a dedicated Northgate team, the operation manages more than 750,000 bookings a year, combining both driver and MOT vehicle tests.

Northgate’s solution of combining telephone and on line booking with payment systems has helped to transform the customer experience when dealing with the DVA.  The interface employed allows for essential data sharing across government departments, and has resulted in a more efficient system.  A fact highlighted by the judging panel who found it to be an excellent example of ‘joined-up’ government.

Commenting on winning the prestigious award, James Turnbull, Managing Director, Infrastructure, Northgate Managed Services said, “We are delighted to have been short-listed for this award and even more so to have won it given the calibre of other projects in the category.”

He continued, “We have worked in partnership with the DVA to ensure continuous improvement in both service and system management and are very proud of the system we have established.”

“Through understanding consumer needs we have been able to deploy technology that is geared towards caller convenience- saving the customer time and money. From 2008, the DVA has seen its customer satisfaction score an average of 98.5% with telephone and on line bookings rising by 40% and 12% respectively. The success of this project can be credited to the open partnership with our client and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the DVA.”

Northgate was also short-listed for two other awards on the night; Company of the Year and Best use of Technology for Education and Training.
