Greenwich Council has agreed a £7million contract with Northgate Managed Services (Northgate) to provide the proactive management of its ICT services and desktop computers over the next 7 years

Greenwich Council has agreed a £7million contract with Northgate Managed Services (Northgate) to provide the proactive management of its ICT services and desktop computers over the next 7 years. This will enable the Council to continue with their modernisation agenda, resulting in the delivery of better services for the people they serve. The contract provides the core ICT support services for the council, with the provision of on-site support to users and the proactive joining up of third parties who together with Northgate provide the Council ICT service.

Having previously worked with the Council in 2002 to overhaul the IT infrastructure as part of a regeneration project, Northgate has again been selected by the Council to underpin the ICT elements of its modernisation programme.

A key feature of the new contract is the implementation of an "intelligent" dedicated Service Desk which is fully automated to provide a seamless end to end service for the users and third parties. This service desk will act as the first point of contact for all ICT issues and changes throughout the Council. Staffed by a dedicated team, this bespoke facility will proactively manage resolution of these issues by interacting with other third party IT supplier. Along side this, the team will provide and manage both the full range of desktop services that is required and provide application support for end user computing.

Speaking about the partnership, James Turnbull, Managing Director, Infrastructure Solutions, Northgate said, "We have a strong track record of working in the public sector. Greenwich Council is yet another example of how our solutions have been used to assist in the modernisation of services for the benefit of local residents. By using our "intelligent" Service Desk, I believe we can assist in delivering the step change in service that the Council demands from all its IT suppliers. We look forward to working closely with the council to help ensure it delivers against its current objectives."
