25 September 2006

The UK’s first ever consultation framework from a private sector partner in Building Schools for the Future was launched today by Chris Stone, Chief Executive of Northgate Information Solutions, at an event attended by headteachers and education providers from across Bristol.

\'Engaging for excellence\' outlines the principles and objectives for community consultation that will inform all of Northgate\'s education work in Bristol, and is designed to ensure open and honest communications during the transformation of the city\'s schools. In launching the framework, Northgate is committed to:

  • keeping people informed and hearing concerns about ICT in education;
  • raising awareness of how ICT can transform the education process;
  • ensuring that the needs of diverse communities are taken into account;
  • supporting research on ICT in education and promoting public debate;
  • working in partnership to deliver educational excellence.

The framework was launched at an event hosted by Bristol City Council and Northgate in order to showcase the future of educational ICT as part of the council\'s Building Schools for the Future programme.

Speaking at the event, Chris Stone, Chief Executive of Northgate Information Solutions, said today:

"The effective use of technology is first and foremost about serving people. That is why we are committed to \'engaging for excellence\' in our work in education. We want to understand the needs of teachers, learners, parents and communities. We are delighted to be launching this consultation framework in Bristol today, and it represents our commitment to working in partnership to deliver schools that are truly fit for the city\'s future."
