Northgate's Apprenticeship Scheme Receives a Mayoral Seal of Approval

Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Paula Bradley took the opportunity to visit leading ICT services company Northgate Managed Services to learn more about its IT Apprenticeship Scheme.

 

Northgate's "earn as you learn" scheme offers school leavers and young people a direct route into a career in IT, combining educational study with on the job training. As part of the visit Alderman Bradley, had the opportunity to meet 23 year old, ex bricklayer, and current apprentice Peter Kane from Newtownabbey.

Peter discussed how Northgate have given him the opportunity to develop a new career path which has enabled him to graduate next month with specific IT qualifications and successfully undertake a permanent role within the company.

Peter's commitment and dedication to his training, as well as to Northgate, has led to him being nominated for the prestigious 2011 Department for Employment and Learning's 'Apprenticeship of the Year' award.

Alderman Bradley and members of Newtownabbey Borough Council were accompanied by Andy Ross, Chief Executive of Northgate Managed Services. Mr Ross discussed the company's plans for growth and explained the significance of the recent expansion to Mossley Mill.
