Northgate Contract to Boost NI Government Efficiency

14 June 2006

Newtownabbey based Northgate Information Solutions (formerly SX3) has signed a contract worth £5 million over 12 years with BT as part of its recently announced agreement with the Department of Finance and Personnel.

As part of the Accounting Services Programme (ASP), to modernise and improve accounting services across the Northern Ireland Civil Service, Northgate will be responsible for the provision of critical "Bulk Printing" services.

Using the latest Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) technology, Northgate will manage a range of back-office services, including processing and payments systems, which will help to improve the overall efficiency of government financial services throughout Northern Ireland.

In addition, Northgate will also provide key Oracle skills and resources to BT as part of the Application Management services, which will support and enhance the Financials application, delivered as part of the Accounting Services Programme.

"We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by BT to play a key role in delivering a more efficient and economical solution to NI Government," said Andy Ross, Managing Director of Northgate Managed Services. "We look forward working with BT on the roll out of this project.

Alastair Hamilton, Managing Director, BT Major Business added, "With considerable experience and capacity in Bulk Printing, and a readily available, local pool of expertise capable of providing Oracle EBusiness Support, Northgate was the natural choice for this key element of the project."
