Northgate Managed Services team does a bloomin marvelous job at NI Childrens Hospice

10 June 2010

A team from Newtownabbey-based Northgate Managed Services traded the office for the great outdoors this week to tend to the garden at the Northern Ireland Childrens Hospice.

The 18 staff members visited the Hospice as part of Business in the Community's Cares Challenge; a campaign set up to encourage employee volunteering in the local community.

Donning gardening gloves, the 'green-fingered' team tackled some heavy-duty weeding as well as freshening up the paintwork on the many benches placed around the garden - used and enjoyed by the children, family members and staff all year round.

Commenting on the challenge, Eleanor Lee, Head of Marketing, Northgate Managed Services said:
"Northgate is delighted to take on the Cares Challenge for the 2nd year as part of our ongoing CSR activities. The Childrens Hospice is a neighbour of ours in Newtownabbey and at Northgate we place a huge importance on giving something back to the local community; especially to those organisations who themselves give so much. The staff at the Hospice work extremely hard and it's fantastic to be able to help out where we can."

Caroline Greer, head of fundraising, NI Children's Hospice said:
"On behalf of everyone, I'd like to extend our thanks to the team from Northgate Managed Services. They give it 100% on every visit and definitely aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands (and clothes!) dirty. The garden is an integral part of the Hospice and allows us to give the children and their families a 'Home from Home' experience in a comfortable and safe environment. Well done to the Northgate team."
