Northgate Managed Services becomes Hartlepool Tall Ships Sponsor

03 June 2010

THE Tall Ships Races 2010 organisers in Hartlepool have announced Northgate Managed Services as the latest organisation to sign up as a sponsor.

The company, Hartlepool Borough Council's strategic Information and Communications Technology (ICT) provider, is backing the town's plans to host the finale of the international event from August 7-10 when up to one million visitors are expected.

Vessels will arrive in Hartlepool - the only UK host port - after sailing from Kristiansand in Norway and they will depart after taking part in an impressive Parade of Sail.

Hartlepool Borough Council has teamed up with PD Ports and Hartlepool Marina to stage the event and, so far, 67 ships have registered, 21 of them the largest square-rigged Class A vessels.

Michelle Daurat, Hartlepool Borough Council's Tall Ships Project Manager, said: "We're delighted to have Northgate Managed Services on board as a diamond sponsor.

"Northgate will be involved in installing technology and communication links for the Tall Ships events, and we're pleased to be forging even closer links with the company through this sponsorship."

Northgate Managed Services has over 30 years of experience within the ICT industry and employs over 1,300 people across the UK.

As part of the sponsorship deal, Northgate will be supporting six young people from Owton/Rossmere-based ORCEL Sea Training who will be sailing in The Tall Ships Races aboard Black Diamond.

Andy Ross, Chief Executive of Northgate Managed Services, said: "Over the past ten years, we have developed a strong and successful working relationship delivering ICT services in partnership with Hartlepool Borough Council.

"We are delighted to be able to support the Council by sponsoring the Hartlepool Tall ships event. Northgate Managed Services is committed to making a positive impact in the local communities in which we operate and we are excited to be able to give young people from ORCEL Sea Training the opportunity to compete in The Tall Ships Races. We wish them luck and hope they enjoy the experience, gaining key life skills on the way."
