First Integrated BSF ICT Contract
Bristol City Council is part of the first wave of 17 local authorities to benefit from the BSF investment and the country's first Local Education Partnership (LEP) was established in 2006 as a partnership between Skanska, Bristol City Council and Partnerships for Schools, the government's BSF delivery body. Total funding for the first four schools to be rebuilt in phase one was £187.1m.
ICT in Bristol BSF Schools
Northgate Managed Services was appointed ICT managed service provider in July 2006. The 5 year contract with a value of £8.9 million was the first integrated ICT contract under the Government's flagship BSF program.
While BSF does include new school buildings it is intended as far more than a simple building project. Using ICT to support new approaches to teaching and learning, the approach enables students to learn outside the normal school routine and offers access to a new and exciting range of information and resources. Through extended opening hours, the new facilities will be also available for use by the whole community.
